AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS OF SOUTH AFRICA: TRADE, NOT AID:

The fact that South Africa (SA) is dangerously poised on the edge of a slippery slope from which recovery may well be impossible is already well communicated and understood. Less so is exactly what can be done by those who wish to play a constructive role in preventing us from becoming just another failed African state.

After ±20 years of almost zero economic growth, one would think that the African National Congress (ANC) Government – with its Socialist / Communist / Marxist ideology - would consider radically changing direction, but not so: under President Ramaphosa they recently communicated their intent to double down and accelerate in the same direction (whilst still promising Eutopia).

By all economic indicators time is running out fast with many referring to the next three years as do or die.

Amongst this gloom shines the hope and inspiration of ‘never say die’ individuals, business owners, communities, organisations that resolutely hang on whilst they innovate, explore, build and find ways against all odds. And this is where we want to position our proposed solution (a possible future model for minority groupings in other countries).

Based on Daniel 11:32: ‘but those who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits’, the Carry Out Great Exploits Initiative will operate as follows:

a.  Based in a town with reliable municipal management it will combine a high potential, high performance business (‘Business Engine’ or Gazelle) with a high impact cause / Non-Profit Organisation (NPOs) and by doing so contribute to the long-term sustainability of the local community; turning it into an attractive lifestyle town as well as both local and international tourist destination.

b.  ‘Gazelles’: are medium sized, owner driven and high-growth companies representing only +/- 3% of all companies, generate about 30% more jobs than other companies and offer attractive investment opportunities as they seek growth capital allowing them to progress to their next level.

c. High-impact social cause / NPO: There were 280,329 registered in South Africa in 2023 – most barely surviving. Those that thrive are well differentiated, well managed and therefore well positioned regarding funding.

d. Combined as a potential investment opportunity: An established and successful Gazelle company based in a well-run town gets finance from investors allowing it to expand its operation, whilst at the same time (and as part of the funding arrangement) support / initiate a NPO that plays a significant role in their local community.

Now imagine this model operating well in various selected towns in South Africa, supported by international investors who also enjoy some of the best weather, hospitality and panoramic views in different ranges of natural settings.

e.  The role of the Carry Out Great Exploits Team will be to:

- develop and roll out the project, improve and market the concept; tell the story; and

- provide strategic, marketing and financial services as well as oversight to both the Gazelle company and the NPO.

f.  Business sense: whilst a company contributes to a worthy local cause, it has a more stable labour force, and both contribute to their surrounding community - which then offers a very attractive lifestyle for their employees. This success story inspires others as the pilot gets rolled out to other towns and thereby play a role in changing the economic future of South Africa. For the investors this represents an opportunity to benefit from exceptionally favourable exchange rates and contribute to a future-altering initiative whilst establishing a very attractive holiday setting.

This concept ties in very well with the expressed desire of the ‘Trade, not Aid’ press release recently communicated by the US Bureau of African affairs found here.

Help us to prevent SA from becoming the first African Country headed for failed-state status to radically alter course and become a beacon of hope and inspiration. And do so by 'helping those who help themselves'; by assisting and investing in Owner-driven Companies that courageously persevere against all the Race-based laws deployed by the ANC Government.
